Therapy for Teens
As a parent, it can be so hard to see your teen struggling.
At InnerWorks, our therapy for teens helps with:
Anxiety
Depression
Peer relationships
Managing big emotions
Suicidal thoughts
Improving parent-teen relationships
How it works….
When you fill out our contact form, our Client Care Coordinator will help you book a free 20-minute consult (phone or video) with one of our skilled therapists. One or multiple parents may attend this session.
At the end of the consultation, if you and the therapist feel that it is a good fit, the therapist will send you an intake form and book the first 4 sessions with you:
The first session will be booked in your teen’s name and will be for the parent(s) only
This is a time for you as a parent to meet with your child’s therapist to provide more information, and for us to properly assess how we can help your family.
The therapist may request an additional 1-2 parent-only session, depending on the complexity of the situation, ahead of meeting with your teen. After your intake session(s) are complete, you and the therapist will book the ongoing appointments for your teen. The therapist will work with your teen on the identified concerns, and will also discuss with your teen how you as a parent will be included in their therapy.

At InnerWorks, we value the family as a system in which your teen lives. We know that problems don’t happen in isolation, tend to just appear overnight, and that a youth’s emotional wellbeing and behaviours evolve over many years. This means that we expect parents to be involved in their teen’s treatment. This might look like a quick update at the end of sessions, sometimes sitting in together for the entire session, or one-off parent sessions with your teen’s therapist.
We may also recommend that you as parents attend your own therapy, and/or work with one of our parenting coaches. This gives your family the best chance of success in getting back to the kind of family environment that helps all members thrive.
Family issues that we refer out to other providers:
Explosive/violent behaviours
Disordered Eating
Domestic Violence
