Therapy Intern focusing on Grief, Loss & Trauma

You're carrying something heavy right now. Maybe it's a grief that arrived suddenly and changed everything. Maybe it's a health crisis, yours or someone you love, that left you feeling lost in a life that no longer looks familiar. Or maybe it's a quiet, persistent ache you haven't quite found words for yet, and you're wondering if things can ever feel different.

They can. And you don't have to find your way there alone.

That's where Sarah comes in.

Sarah is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and MDiv Clinical Counselling Intern from Tyndale University, and she came to this work through more than 30 years in healthcare,  starting at the bedside and growing into executive leadership, where her focus never wavered: making sure every person felt truly seen and supported. Her specialized studies in Thanatology, the formal study of grief, dying, and bereavement, mean she understands loss in all its forms, from the death of a loved one to the grief that comes quietly with illness, transition, and change. Sarah creates a space where you can simply be your authentic self, work through your pain at your own pace, and begin to reconnect with hope, resilience, and a sense of being fully alive.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • A Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) — or RPQ — is a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) who is completing the requirements for full registration. Sarah's work is conducted under clinical supervision, which means you receive both her full presence and an additional layer of professional oversight. Many clients find this reassuring.

  • Thanatology is the formal study of death, grief, dying, and bereavement. It's a specialized field that helps clinicians understand loss in all its forms — not just the death of a loved one, but the grief that comes with major life changes, health transitions, and identity shifts. Sarah's training in this area means she brings both depth and nuance to conversations about loss.

  • Not at all. Grief shows up in many places — the end of a relationship, a health diagnosis, a career change, a child leaving home, or simply the feeling that life isn't what you thought it would be. If loss is part of your story in any form, Sarah's work is relevant to you.

  • Our sliding scale is designed to make therapy accessible to those who might otherwise find it out of reach financially. Sessions with our intern therapists — including Sarah — are offered at a reduced rate. You don't need to "prove" financial hardship to access this option. Simply mention it when you reach out, and our Client Care team will help find a fit that works for your situation.
