I’m Ryan. I help youth on the autism spectrum navigate the world with confidence, combining traditional therapeutic support with modern digital skills.

I believe that connection is the best foundation for growth. After a decade in the field, I returned to school to study web design because I saw how powerful technology can be for neurodivergent youth. Whether we are building a website, navigating a Minecraft server, or exploring the outdoors, I focus on meeting youth where they are most comfortable. My goal is to turn interests into strengths and "screen time" into "skill-building time."

My Background and Expertise

I brings a unique "dual-lens" approach to the InnerWorks team, blending clinical experience with technical creativity:

  • Education: Child and Youth Care (CYC) practitioner with specialized training in Web Design.

  • Experience: Over a decade of experience supporting youth on the autism spectrum, with a focus on integrating tech literacy into therapeutic goals.

  • Collaborative Care: Because I work within the InnerWorks multidisciplinary team, your family benefits from a wrap-around approach. We can coordinate with your child’s school, therapists, or other programs to ensure everyone is working together.

  • Skills:
I help youth build practical life and social skills through high-interest activities:

    • Digital Literacy: Web design, tech safety, and healthy gaming habits.

    • Social Connection: Collaborative play through Minecraft groups and Dungeons & Dragons campaigns.

    • Community Integration: Building confidence in public spaces through "unplugged" walks and interactive activities like Pokémon GO.

    • Executive Functioning: Organization, planning, and problem-solving within both digital and physical environments.

    • Emotional Regulation: Developing coping strategies through gameplay and real-world social interaction.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • It’s more than just playing a game! We use these platforms as a 'social sandbox.' In Minecraft, we work on executive functioning skills like planning, organization, and collaborative problem-solving. In D&D, youth practice perspective-taking, emotional regulation during high-stakes moments, and verbal communication. My role is to bridge the gap, helping your child take the success they feel in the game and apply it to school and home routines.

  • That’s a common and valid concern! My approach is about moving from passive consumption (scrolling or watching) to active creation and social engagement. By teaching skills like web design or hosting Minecraft groups, we turn screen time into a structured, goal-oriented activity. We also use 'blended' sessions, like playing Pokémon GO, to encourage physical movement, community navigation, and real-world social interaction while still honoring their digital interests.

  • I'll let you in on a secret: Social skills didn't come naturally to me as a kid, either. I know firsthand how frustrating it feels to be 'out of sync' with your peers or to feel like there’s a hidden rulebook everyone else has except for you.

I spent years practicing, observing, and learning how to navigate those challenges myself. Today, I use that lived experience, combined with my professional training, to meet youth with genuine empathy. I’m not just teaching them 'the rules'; I’m sharing the strategies and tools that actually worked for me. My goal is to show your child that social confidence isn't a 'magic' trait you're born with, it’s a skill we can build together, one step at a time.
