Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • This isn't about being good at art, it's about using art to express yourself, connect with others, and build confidence. All skill levels are welcome. Rebecca will support her at whatever level she's at, whether she's a complete beginner or an experienced artist.

  • We get this question a lot, especially from parents of anxious or neurodivergent girls. Rebecca is trained in supporting anxious teens, and the group is intentionally small and low-pressure. Girls can participate at their own comfort level, if she needs to just observe the first session or work on her own project quietly, that's completely okay. Connection happens naturally; it's never forced.

  • Absolutely. This group is neurodiversity-affirming, and many participants are neurodivergent. The structure (guided prompts + creative freedom) supports executive functioning while honoring different ways of thinking and creating. Rebecca has extensive experience working with neurodivergent teens.

  • Yes! This group is open to all girls aged 13+, whether they're current clients or not. You don't need to be in therapy to participate.

  • It's both, and neither. It's not formal group therapy where girls are expected to share their struggles verbally. But it is therapeutic, led by a Registered Social Worker who understands how art can support emotional growth, confidence, and connection. Think of it as a safe, supportive space where healing and growth happen naturally through creativity and peer connection.

  • She can! While there are guided projects each week, girls are always welcome to bring their own creative ideas or work digitally (just bring your own device). The goal is for her to feel ownership over her creative process, not to force her into activities that don't resonate.

  • You'll likely notice small shifts:

    • She talks about the group positively (or asks when it's Monday again)

    • She seems lighter or more confident

    • She mentions friends or connections from the group

    • She's creating at home or expressing herself more freely

Rebecca can also touch base with you after sessions to share observations and answer questions.

Does Your Teen Daughter Feel Like She Doesn't Fit In?

Help Her Find Her Voice, Her People, and Her Confidence, Through Art

Does This Sound Familiar?

She's withdrawing. She used to be outgoing, but now she spends most of her time in her room, scrolling or avoiding social situations.
She's anxious about fitting in. School feels overwhelming. Friend groups feel complicated. She's not sure where she belongs.
She's lost her spark. You remember when she used to create, explore, and express herself freely. Now she second-guesses everything.
You're worried. You see her struggling, but you're not sure how to help. Therapy feels too formal. Sports aren't her thing. She just needs a place to be herself.

Here's the truth: Your daughter doesn't need to be "fixed." She needs a space where she can explore who she is, connect with other girls who get it, and remember that her voice matters.

That's exactly what Girls Creative Empowerment does.

A Safe Space to Create, Connect, and Be Yourself

Girls Creative Empowerment is a monthly 4-week art group for girls aged 13+, led by Rebecca D'Agostino, Registered Social Worker.

This isn't your typical art class. It's a space where:

She can show up as she is – No judgment. No performance. Just a room full of girls who understand.
She gets to choose – Guided projects, her own creative idea, or collaborating with others. She's in control.
Connection happens naturally – Through shared creativity, not forced icebreakers. Girls build friendships while painting, sculpting, and creating together.
Her confidence grows quietly – With each project completed, each idea shared, each moment she realizes: I belong here.

What Your Daughter Will Experience

She'll Create (Whatever Feels Right)

  • Canvas painting with acrylics

  • Clay projects (air-dry and modeling clay)

  • Jewelry and accessories (bracelets, etc.)

  • Collages and mixed media

  • Digital art (bring your own device if preferred)

  • Open-ended materials for her own ideas

All art supplies included. She just shows up.

She'll Connect (With Girls Who Get It)

Through collaborative projects, peer feedback, and shared creative time, girls naturally build friendships in a low-pressure, supportive environment.

She'll Grow (In Ways That Surprise You)

Emotionally:

  • Express feelings she can't always put into words

  • Build confidence by completing projects and sharing ideas

  • Practice self-compassion and self-acceptance

Socially:

  • Make real friendships with girls who share her interests

  • Practice communication in a safe, affirming space

  • Feel less alone in her struggles

Cognitively:

  • Develop problem-solving skills through creative challenges

  • Strengthen focus and mindfulness

  • Build executive function skills (planning, organizing, following through)

And here's the best part: She won't even realize she's "working on" these things. She'll just feel lighter, more confident, and more like herself.

Meet Your Guide: Rebecca D'Agostin, BSW, RSW

Rebecca is a Registered Social Worker who understands what it's like to feel like you don't fit in.

She's worked with hundreds of teen girls navigating anxiety, identity, friendship struggles, and the overwhelming pressure to be "perfect." She knows that sometimes, the best way to process emotions isn't through talking, it's through creating.

Rebecca creates a space where girls feel seen, safe, and free to be exactly who they are. No judgment. No pressure. Just room to breathe, create, and belong.

Who This Group Is For

This group is ideal if your daughter:

Feels anxious or left out in social situations (but craves connection)

Loves creating (or used to, before life got overwhelming)

Is neurodivergent (ADHD, autism, or just thinks differently)

Struggles with perfectionism (and needs a space where mistakes are part of the process)

Just needs a break from school stress, social media comparison, and the pressure to have it all figured out

Open to all skill levels. She doesn't need to be "good at art" to belong here.

What Happens If She Doesn't Have a Space Like This?

Without a safe place to express herself and connect with peers, many teen girls:

⚠️ Retreat further – Anxiety grows, social skills weaken, and isolation becomes the norm

⚠️ Lose confidence – Without opportunities to create and be celebrated, self-doubt takes root

⚠️ Miss out on real friendships – Surface-level connections don't fill the need for belonging

⚠️ Carry stress into adulthood – The patterns formed now shape how she relates to herself and others for years to come

The teen years are when identity forms. This is the time to give her a space where she feels valued, creative, and connected, not just "good enough."

Imagine What Life Could Look Like

Instead of withdrawing, she's looking forward to Monday nights.
Instead of doubting herself, she's proud of what she's created.
Instead of feeling alone, she's laughing with friends who actually get her.
Instead of anxiety defining her, she's learning to express it—and release it—through art.

That's what happens when girls have a space to create, connect, and just be themselves.
